recently i posed a question on twitter: what is your mental health “fight song” – the one that keeps you going? i wanted to know what music is helpful to people struggling with mental illness, addiction recovery or really any challenging circumstance.
music can transport us to a different place and allows us to express emotion we can’t find the words for. my fight song fills me with energy and helps me connect with my inner strength and courage:
“i’ve got the eye of the tiger, a fighter, dancing through the fire, cause i am a champion and you’re gonna hear me roar.”
i got a great response and have now developed one awesome fight song playlist! if you are facing tough times, have a listen to any of these songs. they were shared by some real fighters. you may relate to the messages about strength, acceptance and carrying on. special thanks to my friends (listed below by their twitter handles) for sharing.
got one to add? i would love to include it. just comment below or find me on twitter @_bluelightblue.
